A Rough Trade
Amis, Martin. "A Rough Trade." The Guardian. Guardian News and Media, 16 Mar. 2001. Web. 10 Dec. 2012.
This article from a magazine called the guardian outlines an interview a reporter shared with a few individuals who worked in the porn industry. He talked to directors and actresses, focusing specifically on the realism of porn. Anal sex was mentioned many times in his interviews. The director explained that it made the actresses exhibit a more real response, which is desirable to viewers. Actresses talked about why they would or wouldn’t do it. Others answered other questions, like what to do if a male actor cannot become erect or ejaculate. The article discussed how Viagra use could take away from the realness goal shared in all pornos.
The article and its author seemed to be valid sources. Although it is not exactly a scholarly source, it provided good insightful information. There were no typos and there were no biased viewpoints, either.
The interviews in this article proved very insightful to me, since it is somewhat difficult to find on the Internet without running into a porn site. The suggestion that porn is become more dangerous and vulgar for the sake of viewing pleasure was also an interesting thing to read into.

Mainstreaming Sex
Attwood, Feona. Mainstreaming Sex : The Sexualization of Western Culture. London: I.B.Tauris, 2010. Ebook Library. Web. 10 Dec. 2012.
This book covers some of the ways that sex is playing a role in society today, and in the first chapter it converses how the goal of porn today is realism, and the image of reality. This goal is hindered by the classical roles of the male as a subject and the woman as an object. But recently, different expressions of female desire in books, memoirs, and movies have created new roles for porno actors. This goal of reality over representation is changing the face of pornography today.
Although I only read the first chapter because the others were irrelevant to my research area, the book as a whole seems very reliable. There were no spelling errors or biased views, and all sources were properly cited. I expected this level of validity since I acquired the book from McIntyre Library.
The reoccurring mentioning of the desire for more real pornography is very interesting. I think this source better analyzed this desire than others, given that it was much more scholarly and went more in depth.

Types of Porn
AFAA. "Pornographic Genre Titles and Descriptions in Adult Film and Porn Home Video." Pornographic Genre Titles and Descriptions in Adult Film and Porn Home Video. Adult Film Association of America, n.d. Web. 10 Dec. 2012.
This site simply lists all of the different subcategories of hardcore and softcore porn, and gives a brief summary of each types. The subcategories all contain 3-5 types within them. Many of the subcategories are also divided by certain characteristics like sexuality or specific acts.
The reliability seems sound enough; there is an address and email to the Adult Film Association of America, and a fax number too. The appearance of the site makes it look untrustworthy, but the information provided seems concrete. It is also hard to skew this type of information.
The length of this list was simply astonishing to me, I never thought about how specific porn could get, and how massive the industry was. Knowing about all these specific types helps me understand why there ahs been a recent movement to make porn more real.

Porn!
Allhoff, Fritz; Monroe, Dave. Porn : Philosophy for Everyone : How to Think With Kink. Hoboken: Wiley-Blackwell, 2010. Ebook Library. Web. 10 Dec. 2012.
This book explains quite thoroughly the purposes behind pornography and many misconceptions held regarding porn. In the second chapter, the purpose of porn is discussed. The author describes porn as a short-term tool to appeal to a male’s short-term attraction. He describes the evolutionary attractions that are held by men and women, and the differences between the two. He goes on to illustrate how these differences are why porn is more geared toward men.
Since I acquired the book from McIntyre, it proved to be a reliable source. Everything was cited well. Did detect some biased standpoints when the author used evolutionary thought process to explain the purposes of porn; that seemed somewhat closed minded to me. There were no spelling errors.
This more traditional view of porn has helped me orientate with the different arguments that exist in the porn debate. Looking at the topic through different lens also helped me better understand the topic as a whole.
